Wednesday, Feb. 5, 6:30 a.m. — ߴý’s campuses are OPEN today. Classes and services are scheduled to run as planned.

Grounds crew have been working at Lansdowne and Interurban to spread salt and sand on parking lots, roadways and main walkways as conditions are icy. Please allow extra time when commuting, dress warmly and stay on cleared paths.

At ߴý, Indigenization incorporates the values, principles, and teachings of Na’tsa’maht – a Lekwungen term meaning “unity or working together as one.” Indigenization broadens the college's capacity to recognize, respect, acknowledge and integrate Indigenous worldviews.

Indigenization policy

Indigenization is a strong indicator of ߴý’s leadership role in regard to Indigenous adult education in British Columbia and beyond. Depicted as a four corner-post model, Indigenization is reflective of the traditional longhouses of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples upon whose territories the college resides. Indigenization incorporates the values, principles, and teachings of Na’tsa’maht – a Lekwungen term meaning “unity or working together as one.” The purpose of this policy is to articulate the commitment and vision of ߴý in its ongoing work of Indigenization across and within all areas of the College.

Indigenization broadens the college's capacity to recognize, respect, acknowledge and integrate Indigenous worldviews by:

  • making the institution more welcoming and relevant to Indigenous learners;
  • preparing non-Indigenous students, graduates, and employees to better understand and co-exist with Indigenous peoples;
  • demonstrating ߴý’s capacity for creativity, innovation, and imagination, and
  • enhancing ߴý’s goal to be a college of life-changing learning.
