What are Wellness Wednesdays?

Wellness Wednesdays are an arts-based, open-studio group where registered ߴý students from all departments can create freely in an environment that nurtures self-expression, curiosity and play.

Wellness Wednesdays are facilitated by a Registered Canadian Art Therapist and held in ߴý's Makerspace. They happen from 10:30am -12:30pm on the second Wednesday of every month. You are welcome to arrive and leave the group as best fits your schedule. No previous art experience is required.

September 11, 2024: Creativity for Curiosity

Creativity counteracts anxiety and makes life more interesting by allowing you to be curious. Training your brain to explore and play can move you out of “Defend mode” and into “Discovery mode” during times of transition.

October 9, 2024: Creativity for Self-Growth

What inspires you? What makes you come alive? What values guide you? Knowing yourself better helps make life richer and makes big life choices clearer. Let your creativity guide you to better self-understanding and self-growth.

November 13, 2024: Creativity for Self-Compassion

Self-critical thinking is a common experience for most humans. Finding kinder and gentler ways to support ourselves through hard times can be transformative. Self-compassion can help you ride the waves of challenges that are part of being a student.

December 11, 2024: Creativity for Calm

Our thinking can get the better of us sometimes and it can be hard to know how to ride the waves of overwhelming thoughts. Being able to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns can be empowering. Engaging your whole brain through creativity can widen your perspective and create space for intentional choice during times of stress.
